Origins Showdown Tasting

Origins Tasting

Ahead of the State of Origin series starting, we thought we’d put on a tasting with a bit of a difference. In the same way the sporting event is to determine which state comes out on top, we' thought we’d do a blind tasting of 3 different NSW spirits against their Queensland counterparts to see which state reigns supreme in the liquor stakes.

In partnership with Bevvy, a new initiative that aims to put on alcoholic tastings with a side of fun and trivia, we’ll be tasting a couple different gins and rums! Along the way, there’ll be a couple games and fun questions, a some prizes to be won! You won’t need any specific sporting knowledge nor any spirits knowledge. And who knows, we might even be able to predict the winner of the actual Origins game itself!

Tickets are $60 a head plus booking fee and you’ll score:

  • Welcome cocktail on arrival

  • Taste four different gins and rums from QLD and NSW

  • Bonus two extra mystery spirits to taste

  • Light snacks

The Great Tonic Taste Off (Sydney)

Great Tonic Taste Off

We're excited to be co-hosting the Sydney leg of the Great Tonic Taste Off with the Gin Queen and Citadelle Gin.

With the rise of gin production, so too have a variety of tonic waters burst onto the market. As one of the most iconic drinks of all time, the Gin and Tonic is all about a happy marriage of the spirit and the mixer. If you thought all tonics were the same, think again! Take part in the Great Tonic Taste Off and you will be pleasantly surprised. The Gin Queen and Citadelle are travelling around Australia to host a taste off in the major capital cities - the aim? Find Australia's favourite tonic. In each session, guests will be blind tasting a line up of tonics and scoring them. The scores are added up and a victor announced. Will there be a tonic that triumphs across all major cities in Australia?

So come along to these sessions and have your say! On arrival, you’ll be greeted with a tasty Citadelle gin cocktail to sip on while the Gin Queen herself talks you through the history of the G&T before you commence blind-tasting six different tonics. Mitch Wilson from Maison Ferrand will then showcase Citadelle gin before a final round of blind-tasting the tonics, this time with a small measure of gin.

The scores will be added up and announced while you enjoy a final G&T.

Summer Aperitif Tasting with Kamm & Sons

UPDATE: EEK, WE SEEM TO HAVE REACHED CAPACITY FOR THIS EVENT RIGHT NOW BUT WE ARE WORKING TO SEE IF WE CAN FIT IN MORE SEATS. IF YOU'D STILL LIKE TO ATTEND, PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR DETAILS SO WE CAN CONTACT YOU IF THAT IS THE CASE.

(Don't worry, we won't spam you - we'll only use this email to contact you about this event)

What do you get when you cross gin and Campari together? The answer isn't a 2/3 negroni cocktail but a revolutionary spirit that doesn't fit into any of the conventional categories. On 11 January 2018, we're awfully chuffed to have Alex Kammerling, founder of game changing brand Kamm & Sons to come along all the way from the UK to tell you his story and take you through a tasting of this British aperitif. This is his only consumer event in Sydney and we're keeping numbers small so you have a chance to drink with Alex and hear straight from the horse's mouth what it takes to start a booze brand from scratch and in an unknown category as well. If you like gin or bittersweet spirits, this one is for you.

6.30 pm arrival and welcome drinks for a 7 pm start. Each ticket scores you 2 drinks, nibbles, tasting of six different aperitif as well as an up close and personal encounter with one of the most personable game changers in the booze industry.

Location at a Sydney venue disclosed to ticket holders (there may or may not be a pineapple to guide your way but we can say it's close to public transport and has amazing views of the Harbour Bridge)

PS: We now have ZipPay (Buy Now Pay Later) available! Option will show up in the payment options once you checkout.

Sea to Still

This is one for the adventurous drinker! For our second event for Good Food Month 2017, return to nature in this interactive experience jointly hosted by us and Dramnation. First up, join us for a foraging workshop on the Northern Beaches led by expert forager Diego Bonetto who will take you through the basics of foraging to discover a natural pantry located on your doorstep. Then armed with that knowledge we will decamp to Sydney's newest distillery, Manly Spirits Co. Distillery to find out how they put botanicals foraged from the same local area to good use in making some of the finest spirits around before we get to taste those spirits. Finally, we end up in a brewery to explore the similarities in the process of beer and spirits making. It's truly a sea to still experience like no other so we hope you can join us! Tickets are $129 per head and due to the nature of the event, seats are limited so we hope to see you there!

Note: Please wear sensible shoes and attire suitable for traipsing around the beaches and surrounded areas. This event will take place in all weather conditions, save for extreme conditions where a warning has been issued by the relevant local weather bureau that it is unsafe to be outdoors. We will let you know if that is the case and the event has to be cancelled.

Tonic Taster (with a little gin) - Encore session

Following on from our inaugural Tonic Taster session, we're back with an encore! We'll be drinking gin and tonics at this one too but it'll be a tasting session with a difference. Because in this one, we're looking at not the spirit itself, but the mixer. Why? Considering the tonic forms 3/4 of the G&T, we thought it's about time we looked at different tonics out there and how they change the flavour of the gin when you put them together.

As part of Good Food Month and taking place on no other than International Gin and Tonic Day (we're not kidding, it's an actual day) at a secret Sydney location known only to attendees, we invite you to join us for a welcome drink before we get down to business of tasting tonics. In this, you'll discover the different tonics out there and what will go best with the gin on taste on the afternoon.

Tickets are only $49 plus booking fee for this one and as usual, it's first in, best dressed!

Our next event is one for all you gin drinkers (or those who would like to explore gin!). Yep, we'll be drinking gin and tonics at this one but it'll be a tasting session with a difference. Because in this one, we're looking at not the spirit itself, but the mixer. Why? Considering the tonic forms 3/4 of the G&T, we thought it's about time we looked at different tonics out there and how they change the flavour of the gin when you put them together.

Taking place at a stunning waterfront location on Saturday 12 August 2017, we invite you to join us for a welcome drink on the deck to enjoy the last of the afternoon sun before we get down to business at this private venue that will be transformed into a tasting salon for the occasion.

Tickets are only $30 plus booking fee for this one and due to the size of the space, only 6 seats are available so it's first in, best dressed!

Cutting to the Chase - an evening with William Chase of Chase Distillery

We've long loved the range of Chase spirits, from its classic potato vodka through to its more-ish line of liqueurs and gins. Now, William Chase, the man behind the distillery, is visiting Australia and this is your chance to get up close and personal with the founder of UK's first (and only) farm to bottle distillery. William has had a varied career, from potato farmer to founding the boutique crisps label Tyrrells and now distillery owner/operator.

We're excited to be hosting this session where we'll be getting together over some great drinks and run through a tasting of some of Chase's most popular range. Held at small bar Since I Left You, your ticket of $20 a head (plus booking fee) gets you 2 drinks, an informal tasting and the chance to chew the fat with the Chase behind Chase Spirits.

This is William Chase's only consumer event in Sydney. Spaces are limited to preserve the intimate nature of the gathering and to ensure attendees have ample opportunity to engage with the man himself. So don't dally! Get your tickets here because what else would you be doing on a Monday anyway?
